The close relationship humans and horses experience is evident throughout history, popular as a means of transport long before trains and cars appeared on the scene. Today, horses are typically found on ranches or farms where they are either ridden for work or for leisure; but, they also serve another important purpose. Interaction with horses can be beneficial for those with disabilities for therapeutic reasons. One of the therapies using horses is therapeutic horseback riding. Therapeutic horseback riding involves actually learning to ride a horse. Lessons are adapted for the individual’s specific disability and needs.

Hosting My Own Workshop
At Inner Equine Journeys we recognize that people would like to work with their own horses when doing personal development work and, therefore we do work offsite with clients and their own horses.
We require a facility that will accommodate a minimum of 6 horses. Depending on the weather a covered arena may be advisable. Together with the Host we individually design a workshop to suit your needs. Topics can range from but not limiting to:
- Communication styles – Verbal and Non-verbal
- Personalities and how they affect our communications
- Maintaining healthy boundaries & building self esteem
At Inner Equine Journeys we believe in Equine Assisted Therapies and wish to educate the public about our work. Lori Thompson provides keynotes upon request. The only fee is a travel stipend to cover the cost of driving to your event. For presentations out of the Wheatland County & Calgary area there may be overnight hotel and meal expenses.
